we believe in community

Monthly student service projects

Each Lent, Catholic families across the country unite to put their faith into action through prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Through CRS Rice Bowl, families learn about how our sisters and brothers across the globe overcome hardships like hunger and malnutrition, and how through Lenten alms, we have the power to make the world a better place for all. Catholic Relief Services (CRS) rice bowls will be sent home the week of Ash Wednesday.  Typically, these donations are collected at the end of Lent. This year we are going to highlight the ongoing giving by encouraging donations to be turned in every Friday.  The intent is to take the savings from your meatless meals and other sacrifices to donate to CRS. The Intermountain Catholic newspaper (icatholic.org) has the Bishop’s message about Lent and an article about CRS Rice Bowl.

Catholic Relief Services (Rice Bowls)

Love is always at the service of others. Because love is seen in actions, not words. ~Pope Francis

Community Service

The J.E. Cosgriff Student Leadership Council carefully selects monthly service project for the entire school community to support. Some past projects include Thanksgiving dinner baskets for St. Patrick’s Parish, collecting food and item donations for the Utah Food Bank, YWCA, and the Road Home. Fundraising for foundations and organizations such as the Humane Society of Utah, Homeless Youth Resource Center and Catholic Relief Services. Students also perform for Parish Senior groups and knit scarves and hats for the St. Ambrose Parish Giving Tree  and Huntsman Cancer Institute.
