Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are an invaluable resource to our teachers and students. Our volunteer program welcomes all parents and friends of the school to get involved in activities both in and out of the classroom. Volunteering not only enhances your child’s education, but also makes you a part of it. The faculty and staff are greatly appreciative and supportive of our volunteers’ contributions. Below is a list of volunteer opportunities. There will be many opportunities to volunteer during the school year, including some events/activities/tasks that are not listed above. Our teachers may also reach out for volunteers in the classroom.

Bad in Plaid Tenth Annual Golf Tournament

Volunteers are needed to work the day of the tournament and to collect prizes for special raffles throughout the day. This is a great way to meet the avid golfers from the school and parish and enjoy a day of golf. Contact Kassi Mancini, kmancini@cosriff.org if you have questions or would like to volunteer for this event.

Grandparent Brunch

Parent volunteers are needed to help with set up, decorations, cooking, and clean up for this very important event for grandparents. The students perform and it is a wonderful morning for all.  Please contact Kate Smith, katesmithslp@gmail.com  if you would like to volunteer for the brunch.

Fall Fun Family Festival

This event is for the whole family to enjoy. It is a night of food, fun and games with a Halloween theme. Parent help is needed to help decorate, set up tables, supervise children’s crafts and games, serve pizza, hotdogs, and clean up. Contact Sarah Ross to offer your time and energy.  sarah11ross@yahoo.com

Trivia Night

This great test of brain power allows parent teams to out- smart each other by answering questions on various topics such as history, religion, music, sports, geography etc.  This committee needs help setting up, and organizing raffle prizes. Please contact Kassi Mancini, kmancini@cosgriff.org if you have questions or would like to volunteer for this event.

Spaghetti Dinner

A great occasion to kick-off Catholic Schools Week and join other school/parish families for a delicious inexpensive Italian dinner. Several parents and older students (7th, 8th grade and High School) are needed to serve our guests.

Parent Luncheon and Classroom Visit

Contact our HSA President, Kate Smith, katesmithslp@gmail.com if you would like to help set up and serve a special student/parent/grandparent lunch between 11:00a.m. and 1:00p.m. This is a great opportunity to have lunch with your child and grandparents, visit classrooms and volunteer in the lunchroom.

Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras is our largest fundraising event and is generally held the week- end before Ash Wednesday. It is an evening for adults filled with great food, fun and entertainment. There are many subcommittees that take charge of different aspects of this event, so there is something to suit everybody’s schedule and interests. Please be a part of this important school/parish event by volunteering and of course attending it on Saturday, March 2, 2019. Contact Kassi Mancini, kmancini@cosriff.org if you have questions or would like to volunteer for this event.

Fine Arts Celebration

The evening will be devoted to the celebration of the arts at Cosgriff School. Parents, family members and friends will be invited to the church in the evening to hear the choir and band perform. In addition, all will enjoy watching dance and acts from recently performed plays. All guests will then proceed over to the school to walk through the art gallery of student work in the halls of the school.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

This committee is in charge of the Cosgriff/St. Ambrose float. They secure necessary vehicles and organize a float-decorating party, which is held the night before the parade. Irish or not, this is a great St. Pat’s parade and many families participate in the festivities.

Teacher Appreciation Week

This committee organizes breakfasts, lunches, and/or other events for our teachers and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week in May. Please contact HSA President, Kate Smith, katesmithslp@gmail.com if you would like to help make this a special week for the “Best of the Best”—our faculty and staff.

Tiger Trot 5k Fun Run

This exciting family activity takes place in Sugar House Park.  The entire family runs for good health and then enjoys a snack and a drink. Parents are needed to help get food and drink donations, set up refreshments, put up signs and cheer on the runners. If you would like to support this athletic activity contact Nikki Whye, Tiger Trot chair, nikkiwhye@yahoo.com or Emily Ellis, Athletic Director eellis@cosgriff.org.

Library Volunteer

Volunteers are needed on a weekly basis to assist Mrs. Jennifer Shrum, librarian,  during the school day. Email Mrs. Shrum to find out times when volunteers are needed. This is a great way to meet our students by checking books in and out, sorting books and keeping the library in order jshrum@cosgriff.org
