Cosgriff Students State Swim Meet Accomplishments
Utah Junior Olympic Short Course State Championships is a high level, four day swim meet held every March. Swimmers from across the state must qualify for the meet and in general, only the top swimmers from Utah’s thirty USA Swimming-sanctioned year round teams can compete. The qualifying times alone represent the top 25% of competitive year round swimmers in Utah, so qualifying for this meet is tough. JE Cosgriff students were represented in this elite field of Utah age-group swimmers, swimming to several top 30, top 3 and even #1 finishes. Congrats to the following J.E. Cosgriff students who qualified for and swam the following events with their respective USA Swimming Teams:
Zach Shubella represented J.E. Cosgriff School at the 2013 Diocesan Science Fair. He was named 2013 Diocesan Young Scientist of the Year in addition to winning the following awards:
1st Place Physical Science
Overall Physical Science Award
Overall 7th Grade Award
Congratulations to Zach and all the 7 & 8 grade students who did a fantastic job representing Cosgriff!
PJ Purcell, 7th grade Cosgriff student, plays hockey on the UTAH JR GRIZZLIES hockey team. His team just won the STATE CUP and will be representing UTAH in the National Hockey Tournament Bantom AA division in North Carolina during Spring Break, April 2013. PJ’s team travels out of state to play many of their hockey games. In fact, last year PJ played approximately 60 games out of state and only 15 games in state. Way to go PJ!
